Programs & Teams

The Junior Bobcats League offers competitive baseball and softball divisions designed to challenge players at every stage of their development. Because we are actively expanding our program, some of our current rosters combine adjacent age groups (such as 7/8U and 9/10U) to form strong, complete teams. As interest and participation grow, our objective is to transition into dedicated, single-year age divisions from 7u to 14u for both boys and girls so players can progress step-by-step each season.

Above all, building a cohesive team goes far beyond practices and weekend games. We place a huge emphasis on team building and connecting our athletes outside of uniform—whether that's walking together in the Blairstown Sauerkraut Days parade, organizing community service projects, or hosting off-field family gatherings. We believe that strong friendships off the field create stronger, more supportive teammates on the dirt.

7U Division (Purely Developmental): A dedicated learning year designed to build fundamental mechanics, softball IQ, and basic field awareness. Focuses on practice reps, team building, and friendly scrimmages rather than formal league standings, with optional tournament play evaluated as the team progresses.

8U Division (Competitive Preparation): The transition into formal league play and summer tournament schedules, including state-level competition. Focuses on refining pitching mechanics, field communication, and preparing athletes for the step up to full competitive rules at the next level (like kid pitching, stealing, and bunting).

11U Division (Full Competitive Play): Higher-level player-pitch division focusing on pitching velocity and control, base stealing, positional specialization, and strategic execution on the field.

7/8U Division (Developmental & Coach-Pitch): Focuses on transitioning players from basic tee-ball into live-action coach-pitch baseball. Athletes build core mechanics in throwing, catching, and hitting while learning defensive responsibilities, base-running fundamentals, and game flow in a high-encouragement environment.

9/10U Division (Intro to Real Baseball Rules): The gateway into true competitive baseball! Players transition to player pitching and learn the complete rulebook—including base stealing, passed ball dynamics, bunting, and reading sign sequences from coaches while adapting to a faster pace of play.

11/12U Division (Advanced Competitive Play): Played on expanded base paths and mound distances. Emphasizes pitching command, pickoff moves, situational defense, positional specialization, and strategic base running to prepare athletes for full-field regulation baseball.

13/14U Division (High School Prep): Full-size field division (60' mound / 90' bases) designed to bridge the gap to high school ball. Focuses on advanced arm care, physical conditioning, situational hitting, mental toughness, and high-level team strategy.
